Buenos Aires, March 30 (NA) – The trial against Felipe Pettinato, in the case in which he is accused of the crime of intentional arson followed by the death of his friend and neurologist Melchor Rodrigo, continues this Monday with the prosecution's closing arguments. Fifteen days ago, the prosecution requested 15 years in prison. In the final stretch of the oral trial at the Criminal Court No. 14, Fernando Klappenbach, in charge of the prosecution, began this Monday with the closing argument and it is expected that in the coming hours the requested sentence will be known. During the trial, Klappenbach maintained that the accused caused the fire that cost Rodrigo his life on May 16, 2022, in Pettinato's apartment in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Belgrano, the Argentine News Agency learned. The prosecution was the first to speak before judges Enrique Gamboa, Gabriel Vega, and Gustavo Valle, and in the argument, the previous conviction for sexual abuse was taken as an aggravating factor, and in the fire that caused Rodrigo's death, 'he did not provide any kind of valid or effective assistance.' 'Pettinato created a legally condemned dangerous risk. He set fire to a living room, not a grill or a kitchen, he did it on the chair and Melchor's clothes, who was sleeping peacefully,' stated lawyer Alejandro Drago.
