The Supreme Court of Argentina has proposed a reform for the selection of candidates for federal and national judges to be analyzed by the Council of the Magistracy. The regulatory project for the selection of judges is signed only by ministers Carlos Rosenkrantz and Ricardo Lorenzetti. The reform aims to limit political discretion in the selection criteria and reduce the impact of the political situation on selection processes. Under this new scheme, the focus of the selection will shift to the development of examinations, the rigor of scores, and the technical administration of competitions. Thursday raised this regulation to the Plenary of the Council of the Magistrature for analysis and has already notified the initiative to the national and federal chambers throughout the territory, as well as to the provincial supreme courts. However, for the new regulation to come into force, the body will need to reach aggravated majorities during the final vote.
