High Turnover at ANSES Leadership in Argentina

Argentina's ANSES has seen a rapid succession of leaders in recent months. Osvaldo Giordano was first to resign, followed by Mariano de los Heros, and then Fernando Bearzi. Guillermo Arancibia is the latest to take the helm, marking the fourth head of the agency in a short time.

The president requested his resignation on February 9, 2024, and his departure was officially formalized a few days later. Quickly, in replacement of Giordano, Mariano de los Heros took over, a lawyer with previous experience in the pension sector and in the old AFJPs. His management lasted almost a year but ended abruptly in February 2025. The first to hold the position was Osvaldo Giordano, from December 2023 to February 2024, after a preliminary agreement with the then governor Juan Schiaretti. His departure was precipitated after the failure of the first version of the 'Omnibus Law' in Congress, after Giordano's wife, deputy Alejandra Torres, voted against several articles. Nevertheless, the rotation continued, and this Tuesday a new change occurred with the arrival of Guillermo Arancibia at the executive directorship, who became the fourth head of the entity during this period.

The trigger was a public statement by the then-official about a future pension reform that did not have the backing of the Executive. Milei disavowed him and removed him from his post, arguing that a 'second-line' official could not set the government's political agenda. From that fact on, the position was held by Fernando Bearzi, who until then served as deputy director of the body.

Buenos Aires, March 17 (NA) – From the beginning of Javier Milei's administration, the head of ANSES has been a hot seat.
