Buenos Aires, March 16 (NA) – Adrián Arribas, the prosecutor in the case of the murder of teacher Cristian Eduardo Pereyra in Virrey del Pino, confirmed in an interview with the Argentine News Agency (NA) that initial assessments indicate that the detained police officer, Matías Vizgarra, was the one who shot the victim. As the case continues to cause public commotion, Arribas highlighted that “the evidence is quite substantial” and that “everything indicates” that the officer, who was serving at Base UTOI Puente 12, fired and abandoned the vehicle a few blocks from the station where he worked. Authorities expect that during the interrogation, which will take place this Monday at the San Justo Prosecutor's Office, the police agent can provide details about his involvement in the case and report if there are other people involved.
In the first hours of the investigation, it was established that Pereyra worked as a Didi ride-sharing driver, and that the last trip was requested by user Matías Vizgarra, 23 years old. With the analysis of the information, it was determined that he was a police officer in civilian clothes. Immediately, his statement was requested at the police station, and due to inconsistencies in his story and after exhibiting his regulation Bersa TPR9 firearm, serial number 13-L65603*, with 8 rounds, the prosecutor ordered his immediate detention for the crime of aggravated homicide by the use of a firearm.
