Argentina Creates National Registry for Volunteer Firefighters

The National Government of Argentina, through the Ministry of Security, has created the National Registry of Volunteer Fire Entities. This initiative aims to exercise more effective control over the compliance with safety, equipment, and operational standards. The registry will be managed by the Directorate of Volunteer Firefighters, dependent on the Federal Emergency Agency (AFE) of the Ministry of Security. The official statement notes the need for clear and simplified regulations that establish the minimum criteria for the administrative, financial, and operational management of these entities. To this end, a series of functions have been established: receiving and processing requests for recognition of volunteer fire entities under Law No. 25.054; conducting a technical-programmatic analysis of compliance with the established requirements; registering the recognized entities; providing advisory and technical, administrative, and procedural information; conducting verification controls and periodic inspections; issuing certificates of recognition and registration; intervening in the accountability process; adopting preventive measures for non-compliant entities; updating the TAD digital platform; and implementing necessary measures. This measure will come into effect upon its publication in the Official Gazette, with the exception of the "Regulation for the Management and Accountability of Subsidies for the National Volunteer Fire System," which will apply to payments made from 2026 onwards. The resolution also contemplates the standardization of digital tools, such as the Web Accountability Module, to promote transparency and traceability in the use of public resources.
