Trans Woman Detained in Buenos Aires After Hitting Police Officer

A trans woman was detained in the Palermo woods area, where she was working as a sex worker, after running over a City of Buenos Aires police officer. The officer had intercepted her during a routine checkpoint. The 45-year-old detainee is accused of 'bodily injury and resistance to authority,' and the Northern Flagrancy Unit, led by Tamara Cristini, has requested the seizure of the vehicle. The incident occurred this morning when officers from the 14C Neighborhood Police Station detained a trans person following a brief pursuit at the intersection of Valentín Alsina and Tornquist, while performing dangerous maneuvers in a Jeep Renegade. When stopped for identification, the driver requested assistance from female officers but became aggressive, confronted the officers, and got into her vehicle to flee. She was eventually subdued by police, though an officer was also injured during the procedure.
