The Secretariat of Tourism, Environment and Sports confirmed that two flights from the airline Emirates have been enabled to allow the transfer of passengers from the United Arab Emirates to South America. As officially reported, the flights will depart from Dubai with a destination to Rio de Janeiro and then Buenos Aires. The first is scheduled for Sunday, March 8, while the second will leave on Monday, 9. It is estimated that about 20 Argentine families remained stranded in that country after the conflict in the Middle East caused cancellations, restrictions on air routes and complications in international itineraries. At the same time that the airline Emirates Airlines confirmed the departure of three flights from Dubai to Buenos Aires carrying stranded passengers, a group of 27 opposition deputies asked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defense to activate the evacuation to repatriate more than 600 Argentines. Deputies from different blocks presented a resolution project, to which the Argentine News Agency had access, which expresses concern about Argentines who are currently stranded in areas affected by the international conflict in different regions of the world and cannot return to the country. “We request the Executive Branch, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship and the Ministry of Defense, to adopt with urgency the necessary measures to guarantee their safe repatriation, coordinating special evacuation operations if the situation requires,” it states. And it adds: “Because no Argentine man or woman can be left alone in the face of an international crisis”.
