Buenos Aires, March 6 (NA) – The head of the General Inspection of Justice, Daniel Vitolo, resigned from his post this Friday at the request of Juan Bautista Mahiques, the new Minister of Justice who took office yesterday. According to the Argentine News Agency, Mahiques requested the resignation of not only Vitolo but also the heads of the International Centre for the Promotion of Human Rights (CIPDH), Ana Belén Mármora; the Anti-Corruption Office, Alejandro Melik; the Office of Recovered Assets, Juan Cruz Montero; and the UIF, Ernesto Gaspari. "I came and asked for the resignation of political officials," Mahiques stated in an interview with A24. He also advocated for having "trained prosecutors and judges." The goal of the new minister is to fill the ministry and the jurisdictions it controls with his own and loyal officials, official sources told NA. Amerio will be the new Attorney General of the Treasury, and Mahiques has requested the resignation of the Justice leadership.
