The Appeals Court upheld the decision of the case's judge, Diego Amarante, who had ruled that Toviggino's hearing must be in person. The investigation, which is being handled by the Economic Criminal Justice system, seeks to determine if there were irregularities in the withholding and payment of taxes related to Argentine football, in a case that also affects other AFA leaders and has generated a strong impact in the sports and political spheres. Justice had rejected this Tuesday the request that Tapia had made to suspend his investigative hearing, initially set for March 5. Tapia's defense had requested last Friday that the summons for his investigative hearing be declared null and void in the case that investigates an alleged improper withholding of contributions for more than $19.353 billion. The case investigates the alleged improper appropriation of more than $19.353 billion corresponding to tax withholdings and social security contributions between March 2024 and September 2025. The tax agency ARCA, ex AFIP, had requested Amarante to summon these AFA leaders due to the case they both face for alleged irregularities in that institution.
