Buenos Aires, March 5 (NA) -- The City's Attorney General, Juan Bautista Mahiques, was officially appointed as Minister of Justice this Thursday. In this position, he will replace Mariano Cúneo Libarona. This was indicated through the publication of Decree 133/2026 in the Official Gazette, to which the Argentine News Agency had access. The document also stated that the resignation of Cúneo Libarona was accepted. “As of March 4, 2026, the resignation presented by Dr. Mariano Cúneo Libarona from the position of Minister of Justice is accepted,” the document reported, which also thanks the outgoing official “for the services rendered in the performance of said position”. Meanwhile, in the decree signed by President Javier Milei and Chief of Staff Manuel Adorni, it was then stated: “Dr. Juan Bautista Mahiques is appointed, as of March 5, 2026, to the position of Minister of Justice”. Mahiques will assume his duties as Minister of Justice today at 12:00 at the Casa Rosada, in the presence of judges and prosecutors who support his appointment.
