Buenos Aires, March 4 (NA) – Appointed Minister of Justice Juan Bautista Mahiques expressed this Wednesday his gratitude to President Javier Milei for his “trust” in appointing him to the position and emphasized that “without justice, there is no possible future.” Mahiques, whose appointment was announced by President Milei via his X account, will replace outgoing Minister Mariano Cúneo Libarona, to whom the head of state thanked for his work since December 2023 through the same social network. “I thank President Javier Milei for his trust in taking on this responsibility. His leadership has been clear in marking the path: without justice, there is no possible future,” stated Mahiques, until now Attorney General of the City of Buenos Aires, in his former Twitter account. For the new official, “that course requires institutions that function according to the Rule of Law and a legal system with clear and stable rules, that rebuilds public trust, provides real security and a predictable framework for those who comply with the law.” Likewise, he also thanked the General Secretary of the Presidency, Karina Milei, “for her permanent support and for the dedication with which she leads and strengthens the Government's political team.” The new head of Justice, as the Argentine News Agency was able to learn, also manifested his “recognition” for the work of Mariano Cúneo Libarona “who was in charge of the first stage of transformation that we must consolidate with responsibility and firmness.” “Argentina, — he stressed — needs a Justice independent of political disputes, impartial in its decisions, agile in its times and modern in its tools; an institution that protects victims, that does not confuse guarantees with impunity and that reaffirms, without exceptions, that the law is fulfilled for all equally.” Finally, he highlighted: “I assume this function with the conviction that without legal security there is no investment, without stable rules there is no development, and without independent judges there is no Republic.”
