Buenos Aires, March 3 (NA) — Argentine gendarme Nahuel Gallo shared his first dinner with his wife María Alexandra Gómez and their three-year-old son, Víctor, after returning to the country following 448 days detained in Venezuela. According to the Argentine News Agency, the family reunion took place on Monday night at the National Gendarmerie's 'Centinela' building in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Retiro, where the non-commissioned officer remains lodged and under medical observation following his release. Gallo arrived in the country early Monday morning on a private flight. Gómez herself recounted the moment on social media and shared a family dinner photo. 'For 14 months, they deliberately denied him [contact] while he was in captivity,' Gómez stated.

Human Rights Abuse Allegations The woman also announced that when Gallo is ready, the family will denounce the human rights violations he suffered during his detention. 'When he is ready to tell his story, we will denounce these crimes against humanity and demand justice,' Gómez asserted. She also confirmed that the gendarme remained for months in extremely precarious detention conditions, with minimal access to sunlight and no contact with his family.

Gallo had been detained in Venezuela in December 2024 and regained his freedom in early March 2026, after more than a year in captivity that generated diplomatic tension between the two countries. 'Nahuel asked for something he had missed with all his heart: an Argentine barbecue,' she wrote. She recounted that the gendarme is now undergoing a recovery process after more than 14 months of detention in poor conditions with scarce medical care during his captivity in the Caribbean country.

Medical Recovery and Aftermath of Captivity Upon his arrival in Argentina, Gallo underwent medical examinations at the Central Military Hospital and will remain under Gendarmerie's health surveillance for a time to assess the possible consequences of his prolonged detention. His wife explained that the officer had begun a hunger strike in the final days of his imprisonment and that his physical condition requires monitoring. 'Nahuel is in a recovery process. His health is the first priority. We were all three together again after such a long time apart.'
