In Buenos Aires, the oral trial against Juan Ignacio Buzali, the ex-husband of Carolina Píparo, current director of the National Bank, begins this Tuesday, March 3, for the crime of attempted homicide, according to sources confirmed to the Argentine News Agency. The trial was scheduled to start this Monday but was postponed due to scheduling conflicts among the parties. Consequently, the Oral Court in Criminal Matters No. I of La Plata rescheduled it for the following day, Tuesday, March 3. The trial will be presided over by judges Ramiro Fernández Lorenzo, Hernán Decastelli, and Cecilia Sanucci, with prosecutor Juan Pablo Caniggia. Most of the witnesses who will testify in the courtroom were proposed by lawyer Martín De Vargas, the legal representative of Luis Lavalle, one of the victims of the incident that occurred in the early hours of January 1, 2021. The investigation details that on that day, Píparo reported being the victim of a robbery on 47th Street between 15th and 16th, as they were getting out of the vehicle to drop off her father at his home. In her testimony, she stated that she and Buzali were approached by several motorcycles with armed occupants who stole her purse. After the robbery, while on their way to file the report, the couple believed they recognized the alleged thieves and began to follow them in a black Fiat 500L with a white roof. "At the intersection of 21 and 40, Buzali rammed from behind a motorcycle carrying Luis Lavalle and a 17-year-old teenager, who were injured after falling onto the pavement," the report highlighted. Following the incident, Buzali was arrested and remained in prison for two years until lawyer Marcelo Peña achieved his release on bail. Therefore, he will arrive at the trial charged with the crime of attempted homicide and as a free man.
