Argentina's President Javier Milei sharply criticized businessmen, whom he claims enriched themselves at the country's expense in collusion with corrupt politicians. He cited specific examples of inflated product prices and accused the leadership of major corporations of blackmail.

Milei Accuses Entrepreneurs of Being Corruption Accomplices

President Javier Milei questioned 'privilege-seeking' entrepreneurs on Sunday and affirmed that they have been 'accomplices of corruption' in the country. 'Obviously, privilege-seeking entrepreneurs cannot buy privileges that corrupt politicians do not put up for sale. Or do you think it's normal to pay $50 for a basic t-shirt when an imported one costs $5?' he said. 'Both are accomplices of corruption, and the main responsibility falls on the politicians,' highlighted the national leader. And he continued: 'But the question is very simple: does anyone want to continue with an impoverishing model where only corrupt politicians and power-friendly entrepreneurs win at the expense of decent Argentines?'. At the same time, he asked: 'Do you think it's normal to pay $4,000 for a ton of steel pipe when it costs $1,400?'. 'And what if, when this whim is not acceded to, they threaten to advance dividend payments to try to destabilize the foreign exchange market?', Milei assured in reference to his cross with Paolo Rocca. In addition, he alluded to the closure of the company FATE: 'Or do you think it's okay to pay for tires three or four times more expensive, against the extortion of throwing 920 workers into the street while negotiating protection for the aluminum sector?'
