Political Analyst: Milei Benefits More from Polarizing than Solving Economic Problems

Political analyst Pablo Romá criticized Argentine President Javier Milei's speech, stating that he consciously chooses confrontation with the opposition instead of discussing the country's real economic hardships. The analyst also noted the grotesque tone of the address and the discrepancy between the celebration in Congress and the social mood.

Political Analyst: Milei Benefits More from Polarizing than Solving Economic Problems

Buenos Aires, March 1 (NA) – Political analyst and consultant Pablo Romá analyzed President Javier Milei's speech at the opening of the ordinary sessions, stating that it is "more beneficial for him to polarize with Kirchnerism" than to speak about "the great problems that the country's economy has." In a dialogue with the Argentine News Agency, he stated that the president sought, above all, to give prominence to the fight with the opposition, even intensifying it by attacking former President Cristina Kirchner on several occasions, because "politically" it is better than "putting on the table" the current situation. "I believe that the speech, in some way, also expresses that the social situation in Argentina is in a very deep crisis. The President, in this idea of polarization and in the tone of aggression, seems to me to recognize that the situation is complicated and that it is more effective to argue and fight than to recognize certain issues as real problems," he maintained. On the other hand, he highlighted the "grotesque" forms that were imposed in the speech, as well as the "shameful" nature of the exchange with the Peronist and leftist blocs, and the "permanently negative adjectives" with which Milei, on several occasions, referred to the opposition. To conclude, he referred to the "celebration" that took place inside Congress by the legislators and officials of La Libertad Avanza (LLA) and stated that it "does not match the social mood": "While libertarians celebrate, people lose their jobs and cannot make ends meet," he added. "(Citizens) Are left very far outside of that celebration proposed by the Government. Furthermore, the president who takes very partial data and when he clarifies the particularity of the data, it is because he is evidently leaving real problems of the economic reality aside," he concluded.
