President Javier Milei signed Decree 107/2026, which sets 9:00 PM on March 1st as the opening time for the Ordinary Sessions of the Honorable National Congress for the year 2026, as published today in the Official Gazette. According to the decree's preamble, it was issued under the powers conferred by Article 99, section 8 of the National Constitution, which establishes that the Executive branch presides over the opening of the Congress in joint session and, on that occasion, addresses the state of the Nation. The decree was signed by President Milei and Chief of Staff Manuel Adorni, and published in the Official Gazette, effective February 25, 2026. The opening of the ordinary sessions of Congress is an act of institutional significance provided for in the National Constitution and occurs annually on the first day of March.
