Buenos Aires, February 25 (NA) – President Javier Milei appointed Esteban Garrido as the Undersecretary of Relations with the Provinces of the Secretariat of Provinces and Municipalities of the Ministry of the Interior, retroactively effective February 6, 2026. This was reported by the Argentine News Agency (NA) based on Decree 106/2026, published today in the Official Gazette.
The measure was adopted under the powers conferred by Article 99, clause 7 of the National Constitution, which authorizes the Executive to appoint employees of the administration whose designation is not otherwise regulated. The decree was signed by Milei and the Minister of the Interior, Diego César Santilli.
The Secretariat of Provinces and Municipalities, where the aforementioned undersecretary is located, is responsible for articulating the institutional relations between the national government and the provincial and municipal governments. This includes coordinating interjurisdictional policies and monitoring commitments made within the framework of fiscal and administrative federalism.
According to the provisions of the decree, the appointment was made in accordance with the constitutional powers of the National Executive for the integration of the personnel of the centralized public administration.
