Trial Begins Against Former Miss Orán in Argentina on Drug Trafficking Charges

Today in Buenos Aires, the trial against Martina Oliva, former Miss Orán, and her partner Gustavo Joaquín Tolada begins. They are both accused of drug trafficking. This Tuesday, after 8:30 AM, the hearing against Oliva and Tolada commenced in the Federal Oral Court 1. They are accused of belonging to an organization dedicated to transporting and marketing marijuana from Orán to the provincial capital. The drug was sourced from Bolivia. The trial was expected to begin in early February but was postponed to this Tuesday, February 24, due to one of the judges taking a medical leave, according to the Argentine News Agency. According to the 'Informate Salta' media outlet, the members of the organization are accused of the crime of aggravated drug trafficking due to the number of participants and could face sentences ranging from 6 to 20 years in prison. The former Miss Orán, a mother of two girls, was arrested a year ago during a risky operation at the former Aunor toll booth by the Airport Security Police (PSA). It was a high-risk procedure because there was a chase at speeds over 180 km/h, which allowed the vehicle carrying Oliva to be stopped, and 15 kilograms of marijuana were seized.
