The prosecutor of San Isidro, Patricio Ferrari, has asked the justice system to ban the use of mobile phones inside prisons, with a special focus on the "Banda del Millón", a criminal organization operating in the northern conurbation. The 40 detainees, members of that band, are accused of having committed two homicides and a long list of violent robberies in that area, using minors run by the leaders who were imprisoned, according to Noticias Argentinas agency. For this reason, Ferrari expressly requested that prisoners be prohibited from accessing mobile phones, since through these devices they continue to plan different crimes. In addition, he requested daily searches and the installation of signal jammers in penitentiaries. According to the prosecutor, the inmates "plan, direct and execute serious crimes from the very penal establishments", using cell phones to coordinate assaults and, in some cases, receive bank transfers.
