Argentine Deputy Criticizes Government's Juvenile Penal Law Project

National deputy for Unión por la Patria, Victoria Tolosa Paz, criticized the government's Juvenile Penal Law project. She stated that addressing juvenile delinquency requires more seriousness and less marketing. According to Tolosa Paz, the issue is not resolved with marketing slogans or constantly changing the age of criminal responsibility, but with political responsibility. She also criticized Senator Patricia Bullrich for running a marketing campaign with the slogan 'adult crime, adult sentence.' The deputy noted that this may help in an election campaign, but it does not help move the country forward. Tolosa Paz highlighted that the peronist proposal considers that 'adolescents will be punishable between the ages of 16 and 18, and the maximum sentence will be 10 years.' This system is based on proportional and differential penalties, and will judge, defend, and provide an outlet for young people based on the Constitution. 'More seriousness, less marketing, and fewer slogans,' she concluded.
