Buenos Aires, Feb 11 (NA) – Judge Sabrina Namer ordered the arrest of former Kirchnerist official Claudio Uberti, former head of the Road Concessions Control Body (OCCOVI), on Wednesday, after the Supreme Court upheld the conviction in the Antonini Wilson suitcase case. Namer, head of Oral Economic Criminal Court 1, made the decision following the top court's ruling, which was made public on Tuesday. Uberti was sentenced to four and a half years in prison for his involvement in the illegal entry of a suitcase containing $790,550 in 2007. The decision was made by judges Horacio Rosatti, Carlos Rosenkrantz, and Ricardo Lorenzetti, who rejected the defense's appeal for formal shortcomings in the filing. Uberti was found guilty as co-author of the crime of smuggling in attempt, aggravated by his status as a public official and the participation of more than one person. The episode occurred in the early hours of August 4, 2007, when Uberti arrived in the country on a private flight with Venezuelan businessman Guido Alejandro Antonini Wilson, who was carrying the money hidden in a suitcase.
