Buenos Aires, February 10 (NA) – In one of the most significant rulings against fraudulent financial schemes in recent years, the Supreme Court of Justice upheld the convictions of two collaborators of Enrique Blaksley in the major Hope Funds case and confirmed that a third defendant will face a new trial for money laundering. The highest court, with the signatures of Horacio Rosatti, Carlos Rosenkrantz, and Ricardo Lorenzetti, rejected appeals of complaint and declared inadmissible the arguments presented by the defenses of Alejandro Carozzino and Verónica Vega against their convictions, as reported by the Argentine News Agency. The magistrates also rejected the appeal of Federico Dolinkue, who attempted to avoid a new trial for one of the events linked to the Verazul real estate trust, after the Federal Chamber of Criminal Cassation ordered a review of his possible participation in that money laundering. Blaksley, known as the "Argentine Madoff," was found responsible for heading a criminal association that operated under the facade of the Hope Funds company, intended to commit fraud and asset laundering through a Ponzi scheme, that is, a fraudulent pyramid system that was sustained by the constant entry of new investors to pay previous commitments. Through networks of companies The schemes affected more than 300 investors, who were promised extraordinary returns through a network of more than 60 companies, some with international ties, used to illicitly raise funds. At the end of 2024, Chamber I of the Federal Chamber of Criminal Cassation confirmed the eight-year prison sentence for Enrique Blaksley Señorans for criminal association, fraud, and money laundering, while Dolinkue received four years in prison and Carozzino and Vega were sentenced to three and a half years.
