Buenos Aires, Feb 9 (NA) – The president of Nucleoeléctrica Argentina S.A. (NA-SA), Demián Reidel, resigned this Monday after coming under suspicion in corruption cases. Official sources confirmed this to the Argentine News Agency, detailing that Juan Martín Campos will be the new president of the board and will take over his position. The physicist and economist submitted his resignation this noon amidst accusations of overpricing in cleaning services and technological provisions within the company. The personal friend of President Javier Milei may continue as an advisor, a position he resigned from in July 2025 to join the company's board of directors. On the day Demián Reidel had said that Argentina's problem is 'the Argentines', according to the Argentine News Agency, Reidel's resignation came amid a process of renewing authorities, in which only the head of the Agency for the Transformation of State-Owned Enterprises, Diego Chaher, prevailed. This is one of the key officials for the privatization process carried out by the administration, which is part of the ecosystem of presidential advisor Santiago Caputo. In this way, following the shareholders' assembly, the biochemist specialized in nuclear safety and reactors, Juan Martín Campos, will lead the board of directors, whose vice-presidency will be in the hands of chemical engineer Martín Porro, who also presides over the National Atomic Energy Commission (CNEA). The directorates will be integrated by lawyer Diego Chaher; chemical engineer Diego Garde, a specialist in nuclear technology from the Balseiro Institute; and Javier Grinspun, designated by the CNEA. Through his X account, the Secretary of Nuclear Affairs of the Ministry of Economy, Federico Ramos Napoli, formalized the changes and celebrated the new appointments. 'I am pleased to announce that today, due to the transfer of shares from the Secretariat of Energy to the Secretariat of Nuclear Affairs, we held an assembly to appoint the new Board of Directors of Nucleoeléctrica Argentina S.A., which will have the mandate to maintain the highest safety and operational standards, complete the incorporation of private capital, and finalize the life extension of Atucha I,' he stated. 'I thank the outgoing board for its management and wish them success in their future challenges,' he specified.
