Garrahan Hospital Conflict: Workers Fight Against Firings and Labor Reform

In Argentina, a major labor conflict has erupted at the Garrahan Hospital. Hundreds of healthcare workers and union activists held an open assembly in response to management's decision to fire and discipline 44 employees. Authorities had recommended dismissing 11 individuals, including a union leader, and suspending 30 others for participating in a strike and defending the hospital. Unions and patient families link this to the upcoming labor reform, which the government plans to debate in the Senate on February 11th. In protest, workers have declared a national strike and plan a massive march from the Ministry of Health to Congress. They claim that the persecution of activists is an attempt to break the union movement and pave the way for anti-worker reforms.
