A court in Buenos Aires has ordered the 'prohibition of innovating and hiring' for any business related to the Maradona brand for lawyer Matías Morla, the football legend's sisters Rita and Claudia, and the other defendants in the case. Sources confirmed to the Argentine News Agency that this precautionary measure was requested by the lawyers of Jana Maradona, one of the complainants in the case of the death of the 1986 world champion. The order was issued by the National Criminal and Correctional Court No. 43, which has 'filed' with the National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI) 'the prohibition of innovating and hiring, regarding all trademarks related to the name, pseudonyms, and representation of the image of Diego Armando Maradona in all its variants, in the name of Sattvica S.A.' registered with the body. This measure applies to the defendants, mainly Morla and the footballer's sisters Rita and Claudia, who are instructed that 'they must refrain from carrying out any type of act, contract, negotiation, agreement, promotion, publication, registration procedure and collection of money, regarding the aforementioned trademarks in any country in the world,' the document accessed by NA states. Morla, Pomargo, and Garmendia are accused as co-authors of the crime of fraud and fraudulent administration (articles 45 and 173, section 7 of the Penal Code and article 306 of the National Procedural Penal Code). In turn, the two sisters of the former Boca and Iampolsky player are accused as necessary participants in the same illicit act. Morla served as president of Sattvica S.A. until September 2022, but in February 2021, the Justice summoned him to transfer the management of the image rights of the former captain of the Argentine national team to the heirs. Pomargo was the alternate director, a position he resigned shortly after the lawyer's resignation, at the same time that the companies were ceded to Claudia and Rita Maradona.
