Buenos Aires, January 30 (NA) — Various political and environmental organizations marched to the Ministry of Security on Friday to demand the government declare a fire emergency. This came a day after the Executive Branch announced the measure for the provinces of Chubut, Río Negro, Neuquén, and La Pampa. The march began at the Faculty of Law of the UBA and headed to the headquarters of the Ministry of Security at Gelly y Obes 2289 in the Palermo neighborhood. The measure was established by Decree of Necessity and Urgency 73/2026, signed by a general agreement of ministers. It covers both the suppression and firefighting efforts and the restoration of affected areas and the prevention of new outbreaks. The decree also declares the affected territories a disaster area under Law 27.287 on Comprehensive Risk Management and Civil Protection.
