Left-wing party-affiliated unions have called for a plenary session on February 2nd in Lezama Park as part of the preparation for a "major worker and popular response" to the labor reform's consideration in the Senate. Deputy from the United Left Front, Romina del Plá, expressed her full support for the self-convocation: "We are living at a pivotal moment." The main axis of this self-convocation is to promote assemblies in workplaces, educational institutions, and neighborhoods to prepare for a national active strike and a plan of struggle, up to a general strike. "While the government prepares this attack, the CGT and union leaderships are busy making deals with Milei and the governors. There is no plan of struggle because they have chosen collaborationism," she lamented. The Argentine Metallurgical Union (UOM) will meet again on Wednesday with 'hardline' CGT unions to define actions against Milei's labor reform. Finally, del Plá highlighted that "the initiative taken by the plenary of the combative unionism, together with the picketer movements and retiree organizations, to self-convoke, take to the streets, and face this reform is very important." The UOM's general secretary, Abel Furlán, will meet again on Wednesday with CGT union leaders who demand a tougher stance from the leadership against the government's labor reform project and will define actions in this regard. "We must put all the force of the working class at the service of defeating this offensive," del Plá concluded.
