President Javier Milei gave a speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, where he stated that "free trade capitalism is the only just system." "Socialism sounds nice, but it ends badly," said the national leader. His speech came after that of his US counterpart, Donald Trump, who once again reignited the controversy over Greenland and issued a warning to Europe. In his address, Milei once again positioned himself against the "woke" agenda, populism, and "socialist parasites," also highlighting the achievements of his administration, as he did in the two previous editions of the Forum. On one hand, he emphasized that the crisis in which the West is immersed is "a product of socialism" and pointed to "the aberrant damage in Venezuela" with the "bloody narco-dictatorship" of the leader kidnapped by the United States, Nicolás Maduro. Likewise, he stated that it is "of the utmost importance to return to Judeo-Christian values to save the West" and fundamentally that "politicians have to stop bothering those who are working to achieve a better world," once again placing himself in the role of an outsider who intends to consolidate from the beginning of his administration and not be part of "the old politics." Regarding the successes of his administration, he highlighted the work of the Ministries of Deregulation and State Transformation (which he informally called "the Ministry of Increasing Returns"), led by Federico Sturzenegger, and of Human Capital, which is carried out by his friend and official Sandra Pettovello. From the first, he highlighted the "13,500 structural reforms" that have allowed Argentina's growth since, for the libertarian administration, "regulation kills performance" and "hinders growth"; as for the portfolio led by Pettovello, he recognized the minister's work on "teaching to fish" to the most vulnerable sectors and even on encouraging them to found "their own fishing company" and not continue with the tradition of "giving fish and not the rod."
To conclude, he spoke out again against the "populist and impoverishing" ideas promoted by the "woke" movement and "socialist parasites" and valued the continuous work to "defend freedom, private property, and peace." "Machiavelli is dead and it is time to bury him."
