Argentina Introduces New Rules for Gas Network Connections

Buenos Aires, Jan 21 (NA) -- The National Gas Regulatory Entity (ENARGAS) has established a new scheme of mandatory procedures for individuals applying for access to gas network services in Argentina.

The measure aims to eliminate the lack of information citizens have about the status of their procedures and reduce the asymmetry of knowledge between users, registered installers, and distribution companies.

Under these provisions, all future users must mandatorily register on the distributor's digital portal in their area through a sworn declaration that includes their personal data and a validated email address. Once this step is completed, the company must send them information about the stages of the process, associated deadlines, and a list of registered installers authorized in their jurisdiction.

The regulation was presented through ENARGAS Resolution 15/2026, published this Tuesday in the Official Gazette, and processed by the Argentine News Agency (Agencia Noticias Argentinas). The document establishes a 30-day public consultation period for distributors, sub-distributors, and the general public to present comments or observations on the project.

The new system defines that the registered installer remains the essential technical link for managing service incorporation and ensuring the safety of the installations. However, the distributor is now obligated to notify the user directly via email of every progress, approval, rejection, or penalty that occurs during the procedure. The regulation also standardizes response times for service providers. According to the project, the distributor must respond to supply feasibility requests within a maximum of 30 business days. For partial construction inspections, the deadline is 3 days, while the final inspection must be carried out within 10 business days after the request from the registered installer.

Finally, once the final inspection is approved and the activation is requested, the gas meter must be installed within a 3-business-day period counted from the payment of the corresponding fee. Companies will also have to organize training programs for registered installers on these new technological procedures.
