Buenos Aires, January 17 (NA) -- The General Secretary of the CGT Misiones, José Milciades Giménez, launched harsh criticisms against the national government's policies, focusing especially on labor reform and the erosion of purchasing power. In this context, he did not rule out the possibility of a national strike, although he clarified that it would be 'the last resort' in the absence of dialogue. He emphasized that an effective measure of force should be total: 'We would have to go for a measure of force on land, sea, and air'. Giménez assured that the current administration seeks to impose measures that attack the historical conquests of the labor movement, learned the Argentine News Agency. 'Today more than ever we face an attack on slavery, because what they intend is to enslave the country's future,' affirmed the leader, arguing that labor reform puts the worker in a position of absolute disadvantage against capital. In his view, the 'direct consensus' model between employee and employer is a trap that breaks the principle of equal pay for equal work. In an interview granted to Splendid AM 990, Giménez questioned the official inflation figures and recalled the impact of the initial devaluation of the administration. 'When this government took office, the peso was devalued by 100%', he pointed out, adding that the daily reality of workers is far from the numbers that the government 'wants to show the world'. Regarding the role of the union center, the Misiones leader recognized that there are internal divisions both in politics and in the unions, but urged to 'work back to back' because 'the fatherland is at stake'.
