Milei meets Madrid leader to discuss Venezuela

President Javier Milei received the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, at the Casa Rosada this morning in a meeting to strengthen their common bond. According to the Argentine News Agency (NA), the situation in Venezuela following the US intervention and the detention of Nicolás Maduro was on the agenda of the exchange, which took place in the libertarian's office on the first floor of the Government Palace. The Spanish right-wing figure requested the audience, which lasted a little over an hour, during a private trip to Uruguay, where she was seen vacationing with her partner, Alberto González Amador, in Punta del Este. Foreign Minister Pablo Quirno was also present. In recent days, Ayuso has been critical of the Bolivarian regime and has described Maduro as 'a dictator who hijacked the ballot boxes and his people,' which led to 'murders, torture, famine, and the exodus of millions of Venezuelans.' At 9:55, Díaz Ayuso walked through the Hall of Busts at Balcarce 50 to meet once again with the head of state, whom she decorated in June 2024 with the International Medal of the Community of Madrid. Shortly before 11:30, she left without making any statements to the accredited press. This Thursday's meeting was the first to take place on Argentine soil, as the three previous meetings were held in Madrid.
