The recent reconfiguration of the National Intelligence System, ordered through Decree of Necessity (DNU) 941/2025, once again exposes the structural, conceptual, and professional weaknesses that have plagued Argentina's intelligence scheme for years. Any public official has an obligation to report a crime and, eventually, intervene upon catching someone in the act; even an ordinary citizen can do so if they are in a position to. The statements by Agustín Rossi are a prime example of this inconsistency. This semantic confusion is not minor: it reflects a deep conceptual deficit regarding the true nature of the intelligence area. Rossi will be remembered as the head of national intelligence who justified the presence in the country of an Iranian aircraft with crew linked to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, an organization with a proven criminal and terrorist record. This is a basic technical error.
