Argentine Deputy Accuses Government of Attempting to Cover Up Corruption in ANDIS

Buenos Aires, December 30 (NA) – The head of the Union for the Patria bloc in the Chamber of Deputies, Germán Martínez, harshly criticized today the government's announcement to close the National Agency for Disability (ANDIS). He stated that with this decision, the authorities seek to 'erase the traces of bribes' within the body as part of a 'plan of impunity.' 'They want to eliminate ANDIS to erase the traces of bribes in Disability,' stated the Santa Fe deputy in a post on social network X. According to this Peronist leader, the decision is not aimed at 'an administrative reorganization' and actually constitutes 'a plan of impunity.' On Tuesday, at a press conference, the Chief of Cabinet, Manuel Adorni, announced the closure of ANDIS, an event that occurs months after a suspected corruption and bribery scheme was uncovered in the said body.

The audio recordings of the former head of ANDIS, Diego Spagnuolo, were the trigger for a scandal that also splashed the General Secretary of the Presidency, Karina Milei, who is mentioned as the author of a request for bribes equivalent to 3% of the contracts signed with the laboratory suppliers of medicines.
