Five Fined in Argentina for Illegal Fishing

Buenos Aires, December 29 (NA) – Five individuals were fined after being caught transporting 29 illegally caught rainbow trout, along with homemade fishing implements.

During a vehicle checkpoint at kilometer 2049 of National Route 40, security officers managed to seize 29 trout and related equipment from a vehicle carrying five people, none of whom had a valid fishing permit.

The incident occurred this Sunday morning when police stopped a Renault Duster for identification. Upon inspecting the vehicle, officers discovered an almost 30-trout haul, four jars with homemade fishing gear, and a five-kilogram bag of dough prepared to attract fish.

According to a report from the Río Negro Government, accessed by the Argentine News Agency, the corresponding violation report was filed, and the fishing authority was notified, which ordered the confiscation of all seized items.

“The capture of five illegal fishermen with a good number of fish in their possession is a clear demonstration of how police work becomes a guarantee for the care of protected natural resources,” stated the authorities.
