Tapia Faces Tax Charges

The judicial system has opened a new chapter in a high‑impact case – an indictment against the president of the Argentine Football Association, Claudio Fabián Tapia.

According to the tax authority ARCA, the outstanding debt for pension contributions and social security exceeds 19 billion pesos over the last two years. Prosecutor Claudio Roberto Navas Rial filed a request for further investigations, including other board members.

The case stemmed from findings by the Large Taxpayers Office, which identified systematic inconsistencies in payroll deductions. The investigation could lead to criminal charges, administrative fines, and forced restructuring.

The AFA leadership announced an internal audit and is preparing a legal strategy to defend itself in court. This is the first formal accusation against Tapia and could expand if the alleged irregularities are confirmed.
