Argentine Vice President Wishes for Peace and Unity at Christmas

Buenos Aires, December 24 (NA) – Vice President Victoria Villarruel wished “peace and unity for all Argentines” on Wednesday in a Christmas message. “On this Christmas Eve when Jesus Christ is born, may our hearts be filled with the joy and happiness of the birth of the King of Kings. Today we remember the Holy Family in a manger, humble and surrounded by animals, marking the beginning of Christianity,” Villarruel expressed from her social networks. She also stated that “Christmas is the time when, alone or with our families, we give thanks, remember those who are not with us, and pray to receive peace, strength, and unity for all Argentines.”

Conflict with the Government As reported by the Argentine News Agency, last Tuesday Villarruel had publicly demanded more funds for the Senate, in addition to sending signals to the Catholic Church in tension with the Executive Branch. Villarruel criticized the government over the Senate's accounts during the inauguration of an oratory. “Starting in December, we are going into the red, and that's even though we have been administering ourselves austerely,” she questioned after an event she held in the Upper House of Congress. “It has never happened that there is a zero in one of the items, especially when the Chamber of Deputies does have it recognized,” she accused.
