The Senator for Formosa and president of the Kirchnerist bloc, José Mayans, criticized the 'express debate' of the labor reform project sent to Congress by President Javier Milei. In statements to Radio Splendid AM 990, Mayans criticized the initiative, assuring that it is an 'encroachment' on the rights of workers and a 'challenge' to the Constitution. Mayans expressed his 'deep concern' about the legislative process, which he considers plagued by 'irregularities' since its beginning in the Senate. Likewise, the legislator denounced an 'encroachment at the origin of all this' due to the way the commissions were formed, which, according to him, were 'out of term' and did not respect 'proportionality'. 'Practically all the rights of the worker from article 14 bis are being encroached upon,' he added. Mayans pointed out that the proposal is not only a labor reform, but a 'disguised tax reform' that should have started in the Chamber of Deputies and that, in his opinion, 'contradicts the Constitution'. Additionally, he described this measure as 'harsh and all against the worker,' since 'they take taxes away from 150 people, the richest in the country, and give a tax to the workers'. '(The project) practically defunds the education system, the health system, the security system of the provinces, a really totally absurd thing,' he concluded. 'They gathered signatures and said they were enabling (Victoria) Villarruel to give delegations to form the commissions. Only the body can do that,' he explained. Furthermore, he insisted that to distribute the commissions, a venue is first required, then define the commissions, and finally, respect proportionality, 'which did not happen,' he said. The Peronist senator warned that the debate on the law is taking place 'expressly' under the instruction of Milei and his sister and Secretary of the Presidency, Karina Milei, which seeks to 'hastily approve' a regulation with more than 190 articles.
