Two Men Arrested in Buenos Aires for Attempting to Bribe Police

Two men have been arrested in Buenos Aires for attempting to bribe police officers during a routine check. The incident occurred on Salta Street, 1400, in the Constitución neighborhood. City police officers noticed a Dodge Ram pickup truck with the engine running and two occupants inside. They asked the men to step out for proper identification, at which point one of them attempted to bribe them. "Officer, we have drugs, marijuana, three bags," the suspect said, pulling out a wad of cash from his pocket. A subsequent search revealed three ziplock bags containing 5.1 grams of marijuana, as well as 120,000 pesos and 2,000 dollars. It was later determined that the driver had provided false identification and had a prior conviction for drug trafficking. A preventive prison order was issued against the men for drug offenses and bribery.
