Argentina's Supreme Court Confirms Sentence for Ex-Commissioner's Abuse of Teen

The Supreme Court of Justice has confirmed the prison sentence for a former Rio Negro commissioner convicted of repeatedly abusing a minor. The Argentine News Agency (NA) reported the news. Néstor Gustavo Luna was sentenced to 6 years and 8 months in prison for continued rape and sexual abuse of a minor. The defense had challenged the preventive custody, but all instances upheld it, and now the highest court has dismissed the appeal. The ruling stated that the accused took advantage of the victim's sexual immaturity, her status as a 14-year-old, his position of authority due to the age difference, the family's trust, and the minor's vulnerability. The abuses were committed in the defendant's vehicles in deserted areas near the beach and also in his home.
