Buenos Aires, December 11 (NA) – The General Confederation of Labor (CGT) Board of Directors rejected the labor reform promoted by the Government this Thursday, warning that the country is “impoverished, without economic investment, and suffering from deindustrialization.” The central labor union announced it will hold a mobilization at Plaza de Mayo next Thursday at 3:00 PM. The central labor organization questioned the lack of an “agreement” or “dialogue table” with employers and workers regarding this law. This was stated by the union's co-chair, Jorge Solla, at a press conference, where he indicated that the organization “categorically opposes each point of this reform that leads to labor precariousness and is another step towards informality.” The “action plan” includes presenting the CGT's position to legislators and governors to “explain why this law cannot pass.” “The CGT demands to be at the center of the debate with legislators to discuss each point,” he added, criticizing that the bill is being handled “behind closed doors.” Solla also stated that the union will pursue the judicialization of the norm to declare the “unconstitutionality” of several articles that “go against the protective principles of labor.” The mobilization next Thursday, meanwhile, will be “forceful,” they anticipated. Solla held the press conference from the historic Azopardo headquarters after a Board of Directors meeting that lasted over two hours, accompanied by co-christians Cristian Jerónimo and Octavio Argüello. As anticipated by the Argentine News Agency (NA), the CGT will opt for more “institutional” actions, such as negotiations in Congress and legal presentations, rather than direct action measures.
