Buenos Aires, December 10 (NA) – The Ministry of Security designated Carlos Tonelli Banfi as head of the Airport Security Police (PSA) this Wednesday. He will replace Commissioner Alfredo Hernán “Freddy” Gallardo, according to Argentina News Agency (NA) from official sources.
According to the sources consulted, Patricia Bullrich and Gallardo “did not have a good relationship” when the newly elected senator was in charge of the portfolio, now commanded by Alejandra Monteoliva, because he was “a federalist who was not under control.”
Tonelli Banfi is a former director of the Federal Intelligence Agency (AFI) during the term of former President Mauricio Macri (2015-2019) and is allegedly involved in the case investigating the alleged illegal espionage during that period.
Additionally, during the management of Silvia Majdalani and Gustavo Arribas, he served as director of special events for the Operational Intelligence Directorate on Terrorism of the agency. In January 2024, he was in charge of the General Directorate of Complex Airport Security of the PSA.
