Buenos Aires Police Recovers 58 Refrigerators Sold Illegally Online

The Buenos Aires Police conducted four raids in the Villa Devoto neighborhood and recovered 58 commercial display refrigerators that were being sold illegally on social media. According to reports, the refrigerators had been provided on loan (commodatum) to retailers by the beer company Maltería Quilmes, but were stolen and put up for sale through a fake social media profile. During the operation, four buildings used as a warehouse and workshop were searched. On-site, four individuals, including the warehouse manager, were identified and notified. The investigation was launched after the beer company reported the missing equipment. In this way, the police uncovered a modus operandi involving capturing equipment provided on loan, accumulating it in warehouses, and then offering it for sale via fraudulent social media profiles.
