Lawyer Payarola Refuses to Testify in Fraud Case

Buenos Aires, November 28 (NA) -- Lawyer Nicolás Payarola refused to testify this Friday within the framework of a case in which he is being investigated for alleged fraud, although he requested that media personality Wanda Nara appear as a witness.

Payarola was arrested in the last few hours following a series of raids in the Nordelta neighborhood and the locality of Béccar, in the northern area of the Greater Buenos Aires conurbation.

"He attended the hearing, but refused to testify," said Luciano Locatelli, Payarola's defense attorney, to the Noticias Argentinas agency, and added that his client "referred to his previous statements, which were made in writing".

Additionally, Locatelli noted that his colleague "requested that Wanda Nara appear as a witness".

The investigation began following complaints from the victims: Maria Ximena Braña, Juan Marcelo Montiel (a relative of footballer Gonzalo Montiel), Macarena Posee, Silvana de Leonardis, Debora Grecco, and Norma Graciela Vignoni.

Payarola is being investigated for the crimes of fraud, fraud by fraudulent administration, and money laundering of criminal origin, as is his wife Sofía Ferrarazo.

Meanwhile, prosecutor Cosme Iribarren specifically requested that documentation linked to Wanda Nara be seized, as she was implicated by Posee in her testimony.

In fact, Posee is seeking compensation of 600 thousand dollars from Nara, as this had been established when the parties signed the representation contract, if the businesswoman terminated her services before the end of the year, in the lawsuit she maintains with her ex-husband, footballer Mauro Icardi.

However, both Posee and her partner de Leonardis reported Payarola for having falsified the signature of the businesswoman and television host in said contract.
