Buenos Aires, November 27 (NA) – The Buenos Aires City Legislature honored Justice Marcela De Langhe of the Superior Court of Justice (TSJ) as a Distinguished Personality in the Legal Sciences. The ceremony, held in the Golden Hall of the Legislative Palace, was attended by numerous judicial, political, diplomatic, academic, and religious authorities. According to the Argentine News Agency, the event was led by the Vice President of the Legislature, Matías López, and was attended by Head of Government Jorge Macri, Vice Head and President of the body Clara Muzzio, and Deputy María Inés Parry, author of the initiative under Declaration 356/2025. De Langhe was recognized for her extensive judicial career, her contribution to the consolidation of Buenos Aires' autonomy, and her key role in the institutional modernization of local justice. She also played a prominent role in the creation of the Metropolitan Police and in drafting the regulatory framework for the local security system. Currently, she presides over the Academic Council of the Judicial Training Center, is a university professor, an author of specialized publications, and remains actively involved in public policies regarding justice and training. She also reaffirmed her commitment to a 'justice that is close, modern, and humanized.' De Langhe began her judicial career in 1993 and has served in national, provincial, and city courts. Academic and religious figures were also present. During the event, a roundtable was held where Ricardo Gil Lavedra, president of the Public Bar Association; Julio Conte Grand, prosecutor of Buenos Aires Province; Leandro Vergara, dean of the UBA Law School; and Susana Medina, president of the Association of Women Judges of Argentina, spoke, praising De Langhe's professional and personal qualities. In her speech, the honoree thanked for the recognition and highlighted the importance of teamwork in building institutions. 'No achievement is individual. I was a judge of the Criminal Court of Appeals for the City for over fifteen years and was appointed to the TSJ in 2019. There were always huge, talented, and deeply committed teams that made each step possible,' she expressed.
