Buenos Aires, November 25 (NA) – The appointment of Carlos Presti to the Ministry of Defense would bring about imminent changes in the leadership of the Armed Forces: the Army, the Navy, and the Air Force. Official sources have informed the Noticias Argentinas agency that there “could be movements” in the high command, which would imply the retirement of high-ranking officers from the three forces. Familiar with the military environment due to his position in the General Staff of the Argentine Army, Presti would seek to bring about a renewal in the forces shortly after taking office. Formally, the President of the Nation appoints the heads of the Armed Forces, but it is the Minister of Defense who submits the proposals. Tradition dictates that when a military officer is promoted to lead a force, the most senior officers must be retired. All of this will begin to take shape starting December 10th when Presti officially takes over the military portfolio, as Luis Petri will remain minister in the meantime. It is planned that both will attend an event next Wednesday regarding the purchase of the eight-wheeled Stryker armored vehicles.
