Minister of the Interior, Diego Santilli, will begin this week with new meetings with governors, approaching the end of the first round of talks with the 20 provincial leaders who signed the May Pact. The goal is to reach a consensus on the 2026 Budget and future reforms.
On Tuesday, the official will travel to Misiones to meet with Governor Hugo Passalacqua, who, together with his political leader Carlos Rovira, controls a bloc of four deputies and two senators that the libertarian administration seeks to have on its side when handling key projects in extraordinary sessions.
Santilli has been listening to the requests of provincial governors within the framework of these negotiations, promising responses in exchange for legislative support. In parallel, he also seeks to continue weakening Peronist blocs, as some governors from that space could form separate parliamentary groups.
Last Friday, the Minister of the Interior met with Gerardo Zamora in Santiago del Estero and received his predisposition to support the approval of the 2026 Budget, although the provincial leader did not refrain from raising some demands related to funds.
For this week, Santilli is considering the idea of adding an exchange with Jujuy's Carlos Sadir and could call on another provincial representative to the Casa Rosada, the Argentine News Agency learned from official sources.
Once the dialogue with the allies who accompanied the May Pact is concluded, the former PRO legislator's idea is to evaluate the next steps with the four Peronist governors: Axel Kicillof (Buenos Aires), Ricardo Quintela (La Rioja), Gildo Insfrán (Formosa), and Gustavo Melella (Tierra del Fuego).
Contact still needs to be established with Claudio Vidal (Santa Cruz), Gustavo Valdés (Corrientes), Sergio Ziliotto (La Pampa), Claudio Poggi (San Luis), Maximiliano Pullaro (Santa Fe), Gustavo Valdés (Corrientes), and Jorge Macri (CABA).
