The Minister of the Interior, Diego Santilli, will have new meetings with governors, and this week he will begin with a meeting at the Casa Rosada where, around noon, he will receive the Rionegrino governor Alberto Weretilneck. Although during his first week as a public official he held several meetings, the official intends to conclude the meetings with the remaining ten governors. For the time being, all governors from the Peronist sphere are off the list: Axel Kicillof (Buenos Aires), Ricardo Quintela (La Rioja), Gildo Insfrán (Formosa), and Gustavo Melella (Tierra del Fuego). According to sources from the Executive Branch, as stated to the Argentine News Agency, Santilli's idea, by holding these meetings, is to secure the support of the governors to be able to 'approve' the 2026 Budget and continue with the line of the National Government by prioritizing fiscal balance and promoting bill projects for labor, criminal, and tax reform. The first meetings that Santilli held with provincial governors featured Martín Llaryora (Córdoba), Marcelo Orrego (San Juan), Ignacio Torres (Chubut), Gustavo Sáenz (Salta), Osvaldo Jaldo (Tucumán), Rolando Figueroa (Neuquén), Alfredo Cornejo (Mendoza), Carlos Sadir (Jujuy), Raúl Jalil (Catamarca), and Rogelio Frigerio (Entre Ríos). A few days ago, the libertarian official stated that these meetings and tours across the country are expressly due to an 'instruction from President Javier Milei' and that their objective is to learn about the agendas of the provincial governors and analyze them together with the plan for the various modifications that the National Government intends to make in the bills it will send to Congress. Likewise, he stated that with these actions, Milei aims to improve the relationship with the interior of the country and maintain an open dialogue to agree and work together.
