The Head of Government of the City of Buenos Aires, Jorge Macri, described as "positive" the meeting he held with the Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo, where they discussed coparticipation and a possible agreement on the debt that the National Government still owes to his district. After the meeting, they reported that the teams of both governments "will continue to work to find a rapprochement" regarding coparticipation and financing. Macri requested that the National Government "normalize payments, settle the overdue debt and include the corresponding item in the 2026 Budget", as since August, it has owed $274,000 million for the weekly transfers of 1.55% of the Coparticipation agreed upon after a Supreme Court ruling. In the same vein, he asked for the owed amount to be included in next year's budget project "to ensure its continuity" and to comply with the provisions of the highest court. The meeting, held at the Hacienda Palace, was also attended by the Head of the Cabinet of Buenos Aires, Gabriel Sánchez Zinny; the Minister of Justice, Gabino Tapia; the Minister of Economy of Buenos Aires, Gustavo Arengo; the Secretary of National Treasury, Carlos Guberman; and the Undersecretary of Fiscal Coordination, Valeria Sánchez. To date, the Government of the City maintains the underlying judicial claim for the reimbursement of 6,000 million dollars, for the debt originated by the "unconstitutional cut", which "arbitrarily" reduced Coparticipation from 3.5% to 1.4% in 2020, during the government of Alberto Fernández.
