A 33-year-old man, who was a fugitive from justice, has been detained. He is suspected of committing seven robberies on students from a school in Villa Luro, including the theft of a mobile phone from a 14-year-old youth. According to police sources reported to the Argentine News Agency, the subject was arrested by the City Police in the same neighborhood where he was committing the robberies, following a joint investigation with officers from the 10th Division of Community Investigations and the Neighborhood Police Station. The suspect was intercepted by detectives on Rivadavia and Milton avenues. It was confirmed that he had a warrant for his arrest for robbery, a request that came from the Oral Court in Criminal Matters (TOC 26) and dated back to September 6 of last year. While the accused was already being detained, a citizen identified him as the perpetrator of the robbery of his 14-year-old son's cell phone. The incident took place on October 27 of last year, and the case was brought to a Public Security Forum. The complainant stated that on that day, the criminal handed some leaflets to his son at the intersection of Corro and Rivadavia streets, then tricked him into taking the papers out of his backpack and threatened that he had a weapon inside it in order to steal the cell phone, after which he fled along Rivadavia. Likewise, based on the statements of his son, the accuser indicated that the man had a tattoo on his right forearm, which was confirmed by the police officers when they searched the subject at the place of detention. After the inquiries, TOC 26 approved the detention, as did the National Prosecutor's Office in Criminal and Correctional Matters 50, the Office of Dr. Bustamante.
