President Javier Milei made a surprise stopover at Jorge Chávez Airport in Lima, en route to Miami, United States. The presidential plane, ARG01, which departed at 3:30 PM from Jorge Newbery Airport, landed in the Peruvian capital at 5:41 PM local time (7:41 PM in Argentina), a stopover not initially announced on the schedule. Milei was originally scheduled to arrive in Miami around 11:00 PM Argentina time, but these schedules are now subject to the time of departure from Lima. The president will be a speaker at the American Business Forum (November 5-6, Kaseya Center), which will feature prominent attendees such as Donald Trump, Lionel Messi (captain of the Argentina national team), María Corina Machado (Venezuelan opposition leader, winner of the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize), Jamie Dimon (CEO of JP Morgan Chase), actor Will Smith, and Stefano Domenicali (President of Formula 1), among others. Although attempts were made to coordinate a meeting and photo with Donald Trump, it will not be possible this time due to a conflict in their speaking schedules. Subsequently, Milei will travel to New York with two main objectives. One is a religious visit to the tomb of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Menachem Mendel Schneerson, to give thanks for the victory of La Libertad Avanza.
Menachem Mendel Schneerson is one of the most influential Jewish leaders of the 20th century, considered a miracle worker. Later, he will attend a meeting with business investors in Argentina, organized by the Council of the Americas, where he may informally cross paths with Trump. The last stop before returning to Buenos Aires will be La Paz, Bolivia, to attend the inauguration of the new president, Rodrigo Paz Pereira (Christian Democratic Party), who won with over 54% of the vote and ends two decades of administrations by the Movement for Socialism (MAS).
